the second attention
Thu, April 19, 2007 - 6:07 PMA good way to start developing your clairvoyance is to have your basic survival needs met. Not just food and shelter but also your emotional, intellectual and social needs. The reason for this is grounding. By taking full responsibility for your own needs, you set up a basis of self-stablizing energy within you. This can assist your psychic work immeasurably. If you have not secured your needs, I would wait to start developing your psychic powers until your survival issues are resolved.
With that said and given that your survival act is together, a good place to start is learning about the second attention. The first attention is what most people use; the second attention is more rare as it takes great natural talent and/or some training. The first attention is that awareness linked to thinking, words, language and the automatic assignment of meaning. An important function, most people think of it as the only way to pay attention.
The second attention is awareness linked to presence, energy and phenomena but without the automatic assignment of meaning and the explanation with words, thinking and language. The second attention marks the birth of clairvoyance or clear-seeing...for seeing things as they are without any projection of preconceptions, beliefs, ideas, etc.
Like any training, psychic development takes practice. To experience the second attention, practice for very short periods of time -- like five minutes -- relaxing the assignment of meaning to whatever you perceive. Simply see without making what you see mean anything. This may be more difficult than you think. It may be more difficult than you CAN think.
Let me explain. You sit on something called a chair. Can you stop and see what you're sitting on without thinking "chair" ? Apply this same probciple with other objects and situations. See how long you can continue percieing realities without labelling anything or making it mean something.

Re: the second attention
Fri, April 20, 2007 - 3:10 AMSherpa, I understand your opening statement of "A good way to start developing your clairvoyance is to have your basic survival needs met. Not just food and shelter but also your emotional, intellectual and social needs. The reason for this is grounding."
That is very basic. At the same time I have known those who this is not the case and who could tell me minor details of my next week. awareness is not necessarily an attention, it could just simply be there but over looked. Referring to things in the second from those I've experienced, can be in actuality ....ass-backwards. I can only say what I have from experience.I am in no way trying to discredit you as what you describe may be your own experience, and I truly appreciate your willingness to share.
I guess the best way here is to repost my own experience. I was raised Christian, Sunday school etc.. I was told different from what I learned, but not by "people", and when I would share these insights I was shunned. How do you explain spiritual experience to pastors 5 plus times your age who, because of their teachings are set in their ways. My clair abilities where apparent and i used them from the age of 10. It's a hard reality, but it is reality, not made up by any means as with each instance of that happening in my life I have the evidence to back it up. With that in mind some might call it a curse. It is always up to the individual to decide. -

your response to my post comes across as somewhat of a dis to me. i am not offended but is a little confusing.
i posted one example of how to begin developing clairvoyance, not the only example. of course psychic abilities are not dependent on having your needs met and being grounded; many talented psychics can be "survival wrecks" and even borderline psychotic. my bias with training the "second attention" of intuition and psychic abilities in general is about proceeding from the bottom three chakras and working up from there. safety first, in other words. also, my experience of clairvorance is not always tied to telling the future. -

mine developed through training and consistent practice of certain techniques of trance that opened the pineal chakra, enabling me to see auras and chakras (energy centers up the spine). My abilities became more apparent to those people for whom I gave psychic readings to, than to myself; to me, I was just seeing the results of self-discipline.
re; "Did it scare people?"
not really because it did not scare me. as my perception accelerated, i simply saw more reality. since people came to me for my services as a psychic reader, they were more into seeking information than being scared of my abilities.
i always broke trance after each reading so my third eye could close again. if my third eye was always open, i might scare myself and then, others might be scared of me, too.
by the way, i stopped doing these readings twenty years ago right around the time my book, "Angel Tech" came out which contains some of the techniques i learned to do this stuff.

Tue, April 24, 2007 - 11:31 PM"How apparent was your clairvoyance?"
From childhood. I was raised in a Christian home and no one had ever voiced anything like this so I kept it to myself for years. I would have spirits visit in ethereal form, spirits call to me in human voice, Apparitions appear. I could see auras as a child without being taught how, or knowing what they were. Premonitions came to me about the age of 10.
"What did you do?" Not much about it until I was a teenager, and even then going to church pastors I frustrated them. It wasn't until I was 30 that I met people of like mind who helped me to understand and enable me to explore things further.
"Did it scare people?" Only once, notably. When I had an intrusion of spirits. It was July, no air conditioning, and after they contacted me, my friends came into my bedroom and founded me on my bed shivering. My skin, as I was told was ice cold. This scared them.
